Reserving materials

General about reservations

When it is convenient, pick up the books straight from the shelves without making requests.

A customer visiting the library can borrow a requested book. Requests don’t prevent borrowing, if the book is still in its regular shelf and not in the request shelf waiting to be picked up.

If 3AMK libraries have two different loaning periods for the same book (for example two and four week loans), a customer can’t choose, which loaning period they will get.

Vierumäki campus library sends books only if other libraries don’t have copies in their collections. Books in Vierumäki’s collection LPT-kurssikirjat are loaned only to students of Sport Institute of Finland and not sent to other libraries.

How to reserve materials

You can make reservations and order materials from one 3AMK library to another. Reservations can be done online on Finna.

What's required is an active library account to 3AMK libraries. You need to have a library card activated either in Haaga-Helia, Laurea or Metropolia.

  1. Login to HH Finna
  2. Search the book
  3. If there are items that can be reserved online, a Place a request button will appear on the top of the availability information section. Click the button.
  4. If you want to, you can change the date when your request expires. As a default, requests expire in two years. For example, if you have an exam, you can set a date after which you no longer have use for the book.
  5. Choose the campus library from where you wish to pick up your reservation
  6. Click Submit request button
  7. You will be notified to your email when the book is available for pick up

Reserving is not possible

  • If you don't have an active library account (library card) to 3AMK libraries
  • If you already have checked out the title in question
  • If you have fines 15 € or more
  • If you have 50 active reservations
  • Reading room copies or journals can not be reserved

Picking up reserved materials

  • Reserved materials will be held for five working days.
  • You will receive an email notification when the reserved title is ready for collection. Last pick-up day is mentioned in the email.
  • A fee of 2 euros / request is charged for reserved material that is not picked up or cancelled on time.
  • Reservations can be picked up from the reserved books shelf in the library. You can locate your reserved material by hold identifier. It is mentioned in the email message sent from the library. It is also shown on Finna in your account, and also in Tuudo.
  • Remember to check out the books using the lending machine!
  • You can send someone else to pick up your request during library’s customer service hours. Please inform the library about this by e-mail and mention the name of the person picking up your book. The library staff can loan the request either with your library card or the library card of the person picking it up.

Cancelling your request

  • If the requested item is already on the pickup location, the request can not be cancelled through HH Finna nor in Tuudo. Contact the pickup location.
  • In other cases, login to HH Finna or Tuudo and cancel the request there.

Delivery time

Delivery time for books sent from other campus libraries varies. At best, the requested material can arrive in a day, but it can also take a week.
